Frequently Asked Questions

It is a type of senior care that allows older adults to live independently in their own accommodation, but with 24-hour staff available to provide personal care and support services as needed. These services can include help with the activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, eating, dressing, and taking medication. Assisted living communities also offer lifestyle services, such as meals, housekeeping, transportation, and social activities. The cost of assisted living depends on the level of care, the size and location of the accommodation, and the amenities and features of the community.

The services offered by assisted living communities vary from facility to facility. Our services include:

Three meals a day plus snacks

  • Monitoring of medication
  • Personal care, including dressing and bathing
  • Housekeeping and laundry
  • 24-hour emergency care
  • Social and recreational activities

Talk with your family and caregivers about what services are needed. Take time to consider what services are important to you before you visit assisted living communities. This step will help ease your transition. Think about these questions:

  • Why do I want/need to change my living arrangements?
  • What daily activities do I need help with (bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, remembering medications)?
  • How often do I need help?

Long Term Care Medicaid

Medicaid is a health insurance program that is jointly regulated at the federal and state levels available to certain people with low income. This means that the U.S. government creates certain rules that apply to all state Medicaid programs while allowing each state to make individual choices about the programs they provide to their residents. Certain senior living communities accept Medicaid as payment, while others do not. If you have Medicaid, or want to learn if you’re eligible, you can contact one of our communities so we can connect you with our Medicaid consultant.

The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) offers benefits to help Veterans pay for increased senior care. The Aid and Attendance benefit is one of these programs and can provide eligible U.S. Military Veterans and their spouses over $2,600 of monthly, tax-free income, which can help cover the costs of their senior care. Eligibility can be determined in less than 5 minutes by reviewing wartime dates, discharge type, care needs, income, and assets.  We have consultants that can help you determine eligibility and prepare and submit your application for benefits.
